Recording drives

How do I record a drive?

Tap Record Drive on the Roadbooks tab, then End Drive when you arrive. Milepost needs location access with Precise Location on. On Android, a notification shows while a drive is recording.

Milepost is a journal, not a navigation or safety system. Set it up before you drive, or let a passenger handle it.

Why is part of my route missing?

Recording stops if location access or Precise Location is turned off, or if Milepost is force-quit during a drive. Leave the app running in the background until you end the drive.

Recording Mode in Settings controls route detail. Continuous records the most and Battery Saver the least. Automatic picks one from your battery level.

Can Milepost record drives automatically?

On iPhone, turn on Auto-Record in Settings → Recording & Privacy. It needs location access set to Always with Precise Location on. When Auto-Record is off but those permissions are on, Milepost may ask “Want to record this drive?” as you start driving. To stop Milepost watching for drives, set its location access to While Using the App.

Android doesn’t have Auto-Record. Start drives from the app, a widget, the Record Drive Quick Settings tile or Android Auto.

Does Milepost work with CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes. Milepost starts recording when your iPhone connects to CarPlay, or when you open Milepost on an Android Auto display. Turn this off with Record on CarPlay or Record on Android Auto in Settings → Recording & Privacy.

Which devices does Milepost work on?

iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, plus Android phones and Wear OS watches. In the car, Milepost works with CarPlay and Android Auto.

Roadbooks and sharing

What is a Roadbook?

The saved journal of a drive: its route, stops, marked moments, photos, notes and weather, plus the music you played if you turn music saving on.

Who can see my Roadbooks?

Each Roadbook has its own audience, chosen under Who can see this Roadbook?

  • Private: only you.
  • Friends: your Milepost friends, in the app.
  • Public: anyone with the link, including its full route data, plus your friends’ feeds and your public profile on the web.

New Roadbooks usually start as Friends, so check the audience when you save a drive.

How do I change who can see a Roadbook?

Open the Roadbook, tap the pencil and pick a new audience. You can also change it at the top of the Share sheet. People who already saved a copy or screenshot keep it.

Will a shared Roadbook show where I live?

Shared Roadbooks include the full route, including where it starts and ends, with times and speeds. Keep drives that start or end at home Private, or share them only with friends you trust.

Why did my Roadbook become Private?

Roadbooks shared with friends or the public go through an automated check for sexual content. If it flags something, the Roadbook isn’t shared and stays Private. On iPhone and iPad, Milepost tells you which part was flagged, so you can edit it and share again. Email us if you think the check got it wrong.

How do I share a Roadbook outside Milepost?

Tap Share on a Roadbook to make an image or video in one of its share designs, sized for stories, feeds, squares or widescreen. On iPhone, a Public Roadbook can also get a web link.

How do I delete a Roadbook?

Open the Roadbook, tap the pencil, then Delete and confirm Delete Roadbook. It’s removed from all your devices and its share link stops working. Our server keeps a deleted copy until you delete your account; email us to erase it sooner.

Can I export a route?

On Mac, choose Export Route as GPX… on a Roadbook. To get a copy of all your data, email us.

Friends and safety

How do I add a friend?

Tap Add Friend on the Roadbooks tab, or Invite on the Friends Leaderboard in Profile, and send them the link. Anyone who opens it in Milepost becomes your friend, so share it only with people you trust.

Can I hide my Roadbooks from one friend?

Open their profile from the Roadbooks tab or the Friends Leaderboard and turn off Share My Roadbooks. They stop seeing your Friends Roadbooks and getting alerts when you start a drive. Public Roadbooks stay visible to anyone with the link.

Do my friends know when I’m driving?

Friends who choose Drive Started alerts get a notification when you start a drive, including drives Auto-Record, CarPlay or Android Auto start. Turn off Share My Roadbooks on a friend’s profile to stop it for that friend.

How do I remove a friend?

Open their profile, tap ••• and choose Unfollow. You both stop seeing each other’s Roadbooks. A new invite can reconnect you.

How do I block or report someone?

Tap ••• on their Roadbook or profile and choose Report Roadbook, Report Driver or Block Driver. Once blocked, you stop seeing each other’s Roadbooks and can’t reconnect. Unblock someone in Settings → Recording & Privacy → Blocked Drivers.

How do I control notifications from a friend?

Tap the bell on their profile and choose Off, Drive Started or New Roadbook or Car. To silence Milepost entirely, turn off its notifications in your device’s Settings.

Backup and new devices

How does backup work?

On iPhone, iPad and Mac, Cloud Backup keeps your Roadbooks, including Private ones and drafts, with their photos, profile and garage in your Milepost account. It turns on during setup and stays on while you have an account. iCloud Keychain remembers that account across your Apple devices.

On Android, Roadbooks, including Private ones and drafts, and their photos back up to your Milepost account automatically. Sign in with Google to get the same account back on another phone.

What does “iCloud Required” mean?

Cloud Backup needs iCloud Keychain. Turn on Passwords & Keychain under iCloud in your device’s Settings, then reopen Milepost. Your Roadbooks stay on the device until backup can sync.

How do I get my Roadbooks on a new phone?

On Apple devices, sign in with the same Apple Account, keep iCloud Keychain on and open Milepost while online. On Android, sign in with the same Google account. Android’s phone-to-phone transfer doesn’t move Milepost data.

Milepost Pro

What does Milepost Pro include?

Recording, Roadbooks, photos, friends and comments are free. Pro adds:

  • Your full Roadbook history and your friends’ full history, beyond the latest three
  • All six share designs
  • Driving insights
  • Every drive stamp
  • Regenerated car artwork
  • Every app icon on iPhone and iPad

Pro is available monthly, yearly or as a one-time Lifetime purchase.

Pro is missing after reinstalling or switching phones. What do I do?

Open any Pro feature to bring up Milepost Pro, then tap Restore at the bottom. Use the App Store or Google Play account that made the purchase. Purchases don’t move between Apple and Google.

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Cancel in your Apple Account subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions. Deleting Milepost or your account doesn’t cancel a subscription. Apple and Google handle refunds.

Your privacy choices

What does Milepost collect?

Your drives and their locations, what you add to Roadbooks, your garage and profile, friends, purchases and the diagnostics that keep the app working. The privacy policy has the details.

Does Milepost sell my data or show ads?

No. Milepost doesn’t sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Which location access does Milepost need?

Precise location while you record. On iPhone, Milepost asks for Always during setup so it can notice when you start driving, even with Auto-Record off, and it keeps up to six hours of recent location on your phone to record from where you started. Choose While Using the App to stop that. Android never asks for “Allow all the time”; a notification shows whenever a drive is recording. Turning location access off stops recording.

How do I turn off app analytics?

On iPhone and iPad, turn off Share App Analytics in Settings → Recording & Privacy. On Mac, turn off Share Usage Analytics in Settings → Privacy. It’s on by default, and Apple Watch follows your iPhone. Android doesn’t send product analytics.

Analytics never include routes, journal text, photos, names, email addresses or vehicle details.

Can I stop Milepost from saving music?

Music saving is off until you turn it on. Turn off Save Apple Music on Apple devices or Save Music on Android in Settings. On Android, you can also remove Milepost’s notification access in Android Settings. Milepost saves song details, never audio.

What’s on my public profile?

Every account has a public page at milepost.club/user/ followed by your handle, which is a generated one until you choose your own. It shows your name, handle, photo, bio, garage, statistics from your Public Roadbooks and the Public Roadbooks themselves. Once you choose your own handle, it can appear in search engines. Friends and Private Roadbooks never appear there.

What does Milepost send to AI services?

Body Shop sends your car’s details, and any photo of it as soon as you choose one, to OpenAI to draw your car. Your name, handle, profile, invite card and Friends or Public Roadbooks, with their photos, go to OpenAI’s moderation check, and Friends or Public Roadbooks also go to OpenAI to pick reaction emoji. Private Roadbooks and drafts aren’t sent. OpenAI doesn’t train on them and may keep them for up to 30 days to check for abuse. On iPhone, title suggestions use Apple Intelligence.

How do I disconnect ChatGPT, Claude or another agent?

Go to Settings → Recording & Privacy → Connections and tap Revoke Access. The agent can’t read or change anything after that, but keeps what it already received.

Can my friends’ AI agents see my Roadbooks?

Yes. A friend who connects ChatGPT, Claude or another agent can let it read the Roadbooks you share with them, including their routes. Turn off Share My Roadbooks on that friend’s profile to stop it.

How do I get a copy of my data or correct it?

Email sai@kambampati.studio to ask for a copy, a correction or deletion. We only ask for what we need to verify the request. Never send passwords, account tokens or payment details.

Is my data end-to-end encrypted?

No. Milepost encrypts data in transit and limits who can access it, but the service has to read backups to sync and share them.

Deleting your account

How do I delete my Milepost account?

On iPhone, iPad or Android, open Profile → Settings → Delete Account, then confirm Delete Account and Cloud Data. Delete Account is at the bottom of Settings, under About. You don’t need to contact support.

Can I delete my account without the app?

Yes. Request account deletion by email. Include your Milepost handle if you know it and whether you use Apple devices or Android. We’ll verify ownership and confirm when deletion is complete. You don’t need to reinstall Milepost.

What does deleting my account remove?

Your server-stored profile and handle, linked Google identity, garage, uploaded photos, backed-up and shared Roadbooks, friends, invitations, connected agents, linked devices and notifications, and their diagnostic reports.

What stays after I delete my account?

Roadbooks, photos, garage and profile saved on your devices stay there until you delete them or the app. Safety reports by or about you stay for up to a year. Copies other people saved, and records held by Apple, Google, RevenueCat or Mixpanel, may remain; email us to ask about those.

Milepost keeps content-free deletion records so an offline device can’t bring erased data back. See retention and deletion details.

Does deleting my account cancel Milepost Pro?

No. Cancel your subscription separately in the App Store or Google Play, or it keeps renewing.

Does deleting the app delete my account?

No. Deleting the app removes the Roadbooks stored on that device, but your account and cloud backup remain. Use Delete Account to erase them.

Can I undo account deletion?

No. Deleted cloud data can’t be recovered. Roadbooks still on your device stay. On Apple devices, Cloud Backup stays off until you choose Restore next to it in Settings, which backs them up to a new account. On Android, signing in with Google or using a feature that needs an account, such as inviting a friend, creates a new account and backs them up.

Feedback and contact

How do I contact support?

In Milepost, go to Settings → About → Leave Feedback, or email sai@kambampati.studio. Say what you were doing and include any message you saw. Don’t send location details or photos unless we ask.

What’s included when I send feedback?

Your text, the app version and build, your system version and your device model. On iPhone, iPad and Mac it can link to a recent failure report. Routes, photos and journal entries aren’t attached, and feedback is deleted 30 days after we receive it.

How do I appeal a moderation decision?

Email us with enough detail to find the Roadbook or profile, without sending private routes or photos.
